About McCANN

The Hudson Valley's premier destination for ice skating, hockey, and year-round sports programs.

Located in the heart of downtown Poughkeepsie at 14 Civic Center Plaza, McCann Ice Arena has been a cornerstone of the Hudson Valley skating community for more than 30 years. As part of the MJN Center (formerly the Mid-Hudson Civic Center), the arena provides year-round opportunities for people of all ages to enjoy ice sports and recreation in a welcoming, family-friendly environment.

McCann Ice Arena offers a wide variety of programs, including public skating sessions, Learn to Skate classes, figure skating instruction, youth and adult hockey leagues, birthday parties, and seasonal camps.

Beyond its recreational programs, McCann Ice Arena has a rich hockey history. During the 1980s, it was home to the Hudson Valley Bears and the Poughkeepsie Panthers, bringing semi-professional hockey to the city. Today, the arena continues to foster the next generation of athletes while providing a gathering place for families, schools, and community organizations.

Whether someone is taking their first steps on the ice, competing in a championship hockey game, perfecting a figure skating routine, or simply enjoying a public skate with friends and family, McCann Ice Arena remains dedicated to promoting recreation, sportsmanship, and community engagement for the entire region.
